Herringbone, chevron, and panels — rarely DIY. These require a dead-flat subfloor, a mitre saw set to a repeatable angle, layout math off a room centerline rather than a wall, and the discipline to dry-lay the field before any adhesive goes down. Errors are cumulative rather than local: a herringbone row that drifts a degree cannot be nudged back without lifting everything laid after it, and adhesive gives roughly 30 to 60 minutes of working time before that becomes destructive.
